Bryce Van Orden, Writer
My name is Bryce Van Orden, I'm a girl which shocks people because Bryce is usually a guy's name, and
I'm 17 years old in my senior year at East High School. I'm originally from Kansas and have moved
around a lot. I loved Kansas and had an amazing childhood, all my best friends lived on my street and
every day was so much fun from what I can remember. When I was around six, we moved to Seatle
which I was so sad about, it was to rainy and cold for us so after about a year we moved again. Next
move was to California, which was one of my favorite places. We stayed there until third grade, but my
dad got a job offer in Utah so once again we moved. I still miss California a lot and am planning on going
back for college at Santa Barbra City College which I'm looking forward to. I just started third grade
when we moved to Utah and lucky enough, I made a lot of friends and really loved elementary school. I
played soccer all throughout my life, starting in Kansas and when we moved, I played in California and in
Utah all the way up to my sophomore year. I'm happy I played soccer; I made a lot of friends that were
some of my best friends for a long time. Middle school was fun as well, soccer was what I spent most of
my time doing as well as running. I grew up playing sports, I have two brothers who were very athletic
like me and they played a lot of sports as well. I started playing volleyball and doing track and field in
high school which was fun. I tried volleyball sophomore year because I used to play with my dad when I
was little and I'm 5’10 so I wasn’t bad, but I didn’t really love it. I did track and cross country all the way
up till my senior year but I'm not doing any sports now because I am graduating after quarter 1. With my
free time I still like working out and being outside. I love going to the gym and being active, but I also
love just doing nothing, watching movies, cuddling my dog, laying out by my pool, and just enjoying time
by myself. On the weekends I love being with my friends, I've made a lot of new friends this year and I'm
really happy with the people around me. The weekends are always fun but so are the weekdays. I love
how relaxed this year is for me and I'm excited for my future!
